Isight provides a selection of components to help you construct your model.

The following table provides an overview of the components described in this guide. The components available to you may differ based on your Isight license.

Allows Isight to exchange data with Abaqus and to control the execution of Abaqus analyses.

AdamsCar

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from AdamsCar to use in Isight.

Adams_Chassis

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from Adams_Chassis to use in Isight.

ANSA

Application

Exposes all the ANSA model's optimization design variables for use in Isight.

Ansys

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from Ansys to use in Isight.

ANSYS Workbench

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from ANSYS Workbench to use in Isight. In addition, you can use the component to perform various types of analyses.

Approximation

Application

Provides a means of creating an analysis component based on the data generated previously by an external tool and saved in a data file.

Calculator

Application

Allows you to easily define calculations to compute values of parameters.

CATIA V5

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from CATIA V5 to use in Isight.

COM

Application

Provides direct access to execute functions defined in Microsoft COM objects registered to the Windows operating system.

Data Exchanger

Application

Allows you to move data between Isight parameters and text files easily and efficiently.

Data Matching

Application

Calibrates simulation models by analyzing any variety of different measures between the target and simulation data generated in Isight.

Database

Application

Allows you to retrieve data from an existing relational database and to use the data inside an Isight model.

Dymola

Application

Allows you to use the Dymola component to interact with Dymola models. You can use the Dymola component to map parameters and control the Dymola model execution.

DOE

Process

Allows you to use Design of Experiment (DOE) techniques to intelligently sample the design space to improve your design.

Excel

Application

Allows you to map parameters and execute macros using information from an Excel worksheet.

Exploration

Process

Allows you to use various strategies to explore the design space defined by the simulation process flow.

Fast Parser

Application

Allows an Isight model to use file parsing programs. You can use this component to convert models created in iSIGHT to Isight.

Femap

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from Femap to use in Isight.

GT-POWER

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from GT-POWER to use in Isight.

iSIGHT

Application

Allows you to execute previously created iSIGHT description files in your Isight model.

iSIGHT File Parser

Application

Allows an Isight model to use file parsing programs (FDL) created using the iSIGHT Advanced Parser. You can use this component to convert iSIGHT description files into Isight models.

Loop

Process

Allows you to repeatedly execute subflows based on various logical conditions.

LS-DYNA

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from LS-DYNA to use in Isight.

Madymo

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from Madymo to use in Isight.

Mail

Application

Sends e-mail messages containing parameter information. You can use the Mail component to send status or completion notifications for long-running jobs.

Mathcad

Application

Allows you to extract Mathcad parameters and to execute a Mathcad worksheet.

MATLAB

Application

Sends data to MATLAB, executes commands and scripts, and retrieves data from MATLAB.

Monte Carlo

Process

Uses Monte Carlo simulations to assess the reliability of your design against randomness.

MSCAdams

Application

Allows you to exchange data with Adams/View and to execute an Adams/View model.

MSCPatran

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from MSCPatran to use in Isight.

Nastran

Application Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from Nastran to use in Isight.

NEiNastran

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from NEiNastran to use in Isight.

Noise Analysis

Process

Allows a finite element analyst to assess the accuracy and robustness of a model and its suitability for automated design studies in Isight. It is most useful when using the Abaqus component or other FEA subflows.

NXNastran

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from NXNastran to use in Isight.

Optimization

Process

Provides access to numerous optimization techniques to improve your design.

OS Command

Application

Executes a command to your operating system, typically to run an executable analysis code.

PAM-CRASH

Application

Allows you to extract and to modify parameters from PAM-CRASH to use in Isight.

Pause

Application

Provides a mechanism for inserting predefined pauses within a simulation process flow and optionally performing various interactive activities during the pause.

Reference

Application

References internal models and submodels for use in your current model. It provides a means for collaboration by referencing models that have been published to a SIMULIA Execution Engine Library. It is also the primary means of enabling Federation (Business-to-Business) capabilities in the SIMULIA Execution Engine environment, allowing you to select a model that resides at a partner organization (which has a SIMULIA Execution Engine) and insert a reference to it within your own simulation process flow.

Script

Application

Executes Java code in your model. It is used to perform calculations that are too complex for the Calculator component, such as those involving loops or conditional statements.

SDI

Process

Uses Stochastic Design Improvement (SDI), which is a Monte Carlo simulation-based iterative procedure, to improve a design.

Simcode

Application

An OS Command component surrounded by two Data Exchanger components. You can use it to modify input files to a simulation code, run the simulation code, and read values out of the output files from the simulation code.

Six Sigma

Process

Uses a probabilistic analysis process to measure the quality of a design given uncertainty or randomness (stochastic properties) of a product or process.

SolidWorks

Application

Allows you to extract parameters from Solidworks to use in Isight and to execute a Solidworks simulation.

Taguchi Robust Design

Process

Improves the quality of a product or process by not only striving to achieve performance targets but also by minimizing performance variation.

Target Solver

Process

Allows you to modify input values in an attempt to reach specified output values. This is especially useful for solving a system of equations made up of parameters from the subflow.

Task

Process

Always executes a subflow once, unlike other process components that can execute a subflow numerous times. It also allows you to create a Task Plan to execute a sequence of process components on the subflow. XML Parser

Application

Allows you to parse XML string and XML files.

Word

Application

Allows you to populate Word document files (*.doc, *.docx) with the values of Isight parameters.
