About the SolidWorks Component

The SolidWorks Component allows Isight to exchange data with SolidWorks and to execute a SolidWorks simulation.

The SolidWorks component reads an input file and generates a list of input and output parameters. The input parameters include geometry parameters such as extrusion depth, fillet radius, etc. and simulation parameters such as normal force/torque, centrifugal force, gravity, normal pressure, temperature, and bearing load. You can modify the input parameters from Isight. During execution, SolidWorks executes the model with the modified values and recalculates the output parameters.

In general, the SolidWorks component allows you to do the following:

  • Update the parameters in the SolidWorks model from Isight.
  • Retrieve mass properties and perform linear structural static analysis.
  • Map input/output parameters to Isight parameters by selecting parameters from a list of SolidWorks parameters.

You can use Isight process components (such as DOE and Optimization) to iterate through the design space and optimize the model.
