Selecting the Input Variables

The Femap component allows you to select Nodes, Elements, Properties, Materials, Functions, and Load Definitions as inputs.

  1. Select the Nodes.

    1. From the Input list of the Isight-Femap Interface, select Nodes.
    2. Click Select.

      The Entity Selection - Select Nodes to Control dialog box appears.

    3. Choose the selection options.
    4. Select the desired nodes from the Femap model, and click OK.

      The Select Properties dialog box appears.

    5. Select the desired Node Properties.

      • Click Select All to select all the node properties.
      • Click Deselect All to clear all the selected node properties.

    6. Click OK.

    The selected variables are added to the Input Variables area on the Isight-Femap Interface dialog box.

  2. Select the Elements.

    1. From the Input list of the Isight-Femap Interface, select Elements.
    2. Click Select.

      The Entity Selection - Select Elements to Control dialog box appears.

    3. Choose the selection options.
    4. Select the desired elements from the Femap model, and click OK.

      The Select Properties dialog box appears.

    5. Select the desired Element Properties.

      • Click Select All to select all the element properties.
      • Click Deselect All to clear all the selected element properties.

    6. Click OK.

    The selected variables are added to the Input Variables area on the Isight-Femap Interface dialog box.

  3. Select the Properties.

    1. From the Input list of the Isight-Femap Interface, select Properties.
    2. Click Select.

      The Entity Selection - Select Properties to Control dialog box appears.

    3. Choose the selection options.
    4. Select the desired elements from the Femap model, and click OK.

      The Select Properties dialog box appears.

    5. Select the desired Properties.

      • Click Select All to select all the properties.
      • Click Deselect All to clear all the selected properties.

    6. Click OK.

    The selected variables are added to the Input Variables area on the Isight-Femap Interface dialog box.

  4. Select the Materials.

    1. From the Input list of the Isight-Femap Interface, select Materials.
    2. Click Select.

      The Entity Selection - Select Materials to Control dialog box appears.

    3. Choose the selection options.
    4. Select the desired elements from the Femap model, and click OK.

      The Select Properties dialog box appears.

    5. Select the desired Material Properties.

      • Click Select All to select all the materal properties.
      • Click Deselect All to clear all the selected material properties.

    6. Click OK.

    The selected variables are added to the Input Variables area on the Isight-Femap Interface dialog box.

  5. Select the Function.

    1. From the Input list of the Isight-Femap Interface, select Functions.
    2. Click Select.

      The Select Function for Isight Parameter dialog box appears.

    3. Select the desired function.

      You can select only one function at a time.

      If there is no function defined in the model, the dialog box will be blank and the OK button will be disabled.

    4. Click OK.

    The selected functions are added to the Input Variables area on the Isight-Femap Interface dialog box

    The values of the selected functions will be in 2-D arrays in Isight.

  6. Select Load Definition.

    1. From the Input list of the Isight-Femap Interface, select Load Definition.

      If there is no load definition in the model, the dialog box will be blank and the OK button will be disabled.

    2. Click Select.

      The Select Load Definition dialog box appears, displaying all the available load definitions in the model.

    3. Select the desired load definition

      • Click All to select all the load definitions.
      • Click None if you do not want to select any load definition.

    The selected load definitions are added to the Input Variables area on the Isight-Femap Interface dialog box.
