Selecting the Contact Parameters

You can select the parameters in the contact definition.

Before you begin: You must first select the input file and prepare the component (see Selecting an Input File and Preparing the Component).
  1. Double-click the PAM-CRASH component icon .

    The PAM-CRASH Component Editor appears.

  2. From the PAM-CRASH Component Editor, click the Input tab.

  3. Click the Contact subtab.

The parameters in the Contact definition appear in the parameter area. The Name, ID, and Type of each contact parameter are displayed. Contact types 33, 34, 36, 46, and 54 are supported.

From the Contact subtab, you can select the following parameters:

    • Sensor ID number (ISN)
    • Thickness of master and slave entities (HCN)
    • Friction coefficient (CFC)

  4. Select the parameters you want to use in your Isight model by doing any of the following:

    Option Description
Click the check box Select an individual parameter.
    Check Select all the parameters.
Uncheck Clear all the selected parameters.

  5. Add the selected parameters to the Isight Parameter area at the bottom of the component editor.

Click to add the selected parameters to the Isight Parameter area.

Click to remove the selected parameters from the Isight Parameter area.

In the Isight Parameter area, the PAM-CRASH Parameter column displays the name of the parameter in PAM-CRASH and the Isight Parameter column displays the name of the parameter in Isight. The parameter value is displayed in the Value column.

When a parameter is added to the Isight Parameter area, its name is modified. For example, when a Sensor number (ISN) parameter of wall-truck contact is added to the Isight Parameter area, its name changes to ISN_ID2 (ID2 indicates Contact ID , and ISN indicates that it is a Sensor number parameter).

The parameters added to the Isight Parameter area are added to Isight and can be used with your Isight model.

  6. If desired, edit the Isight Parameter Name and Value.

  7. Click to move the selected parameter up in the table, or click to move the selected parameter down in the table.
