Selecting the Material Property Parameters

You can select the parameters in the MAT(Material Property) card.

Before you begin: You must first select the input file and prepare the component (see Selecting an Input File and Preparing the Component).
  1. Double-click the PAM-CRASH component icon .

    The PAM-CRASH Component Editor appears.

  2. From the PAM-CRASH Component Editor, click the Input tab.

  3. Click the Material Property subtab.

The Basic subtab appears. The parameters in the Material Property definition appear in the parameter area.

All parameters are applied for Material Type 100-128/161-171 only.

From the Basic subtab, you can select the following parameters:

    • Mass density (MD)
    • Young's modulus (YM)
    • Poisson's ratio (PR)

The Name, ID, and Type of each parameter are displayed.

  4. Select the parameters you want to use in your Isight model by doing any of the following:

    Option Description
Click the check box Select an individual parameter.
    Check Select all the parameters.
Uncheck Clear all the selected parameters.

  5. If desired, search for the parameters by their MAT Name or MID.

    1. Select the search mode from the list adjacent to the Search field.
    2. Enter the keyword in the Search field.
    3. Click Search.

The selected item, if present, is highlighted.

  6. Add the selected parameters to the Isight Parameter area at the bottom of the component editor.

Click to add the selected parameters to the Isight Parameter area.

Click to remove the selected parameters from the Isight Parameter area.

In the Isight Parameter area, the PAM-CRASH Parameter column displays the name of the parameter in PAM-CRASH and the Isight Parameter column displays the name of the parameter in Isight. The parameter value is displayed in the Value column.

When a parameter is added to the Isight Parameter area, its name is modified. For example, when a Mass Density parameter of tire rubber PID 22 is added to the Isight Parameter area, its name changes to MD_MAT4 (MAT4 indicates Material ID (MID), and MD indicates that it is a Mass Density parameter).

The parameters added to the Isight Parameter area are added to Isight and can be used with your Isight model.

  7. Click to move the selected parameter up in the table, or click to move the selected parameter down in the table.

  8. Click the Hardening subtab.

From the Hardening subtab, you can select the following parameters, which are defined if the hardening law is Power Stress-Strain law (POWER) or Krupkowsky Stress-Strain law (KRUPK).

    • YS = Initial yield stress (POWER)
    • HC = Hardening coefficient (KRUPK)
    • MP = Multiplier (POWER)
    • OS = Offset strain (KRUPK)
    • MAX = Maximum plastic stress cutoff value (POWER and KRUPK)
    • First strain ratio parameter (POWER and KRUPK)
    • Second strain ratio parameter (POWER and KRUPK)

The Name, ID, and Hardening Law (Power or KRUPK) of each parameter are displayed.

  9. Select the parameters you want to use in your Isight model by doing any of the following:

    Option Description
Click the check box Select an individual parameter.
    Check Select all the parameters.
Uncheck Clear all the selected parameters.

  10. If desired, search for the parameters by their MAT Name or MID.

  11. Add the selected parameters to the Isight Parameter area at the bottom of the component editor.

Click to add the selected parameters to the Isight Parameter area.

Click to remove the selected parameters from the Isight Parameter area.

The parameters added to the Isight Parameter area are added to Isight and can be used with your Isight model.
