Introduction

Isight allows you to add units that can be assigned to parameters. This ability allows the value of a parameter to be truly quantified without depending on the presence of the person who defined the parameter.

Because Isight models can be composed of numerous contributing sub-models and components developed by different users working with different units, this quantification can prevent cases where mapping values from one to the other could be incorrect without proper conversion. Isight automatically handles the conversion between different units for parameters that are mapped. All units reside in the library and are logically broken into categories (a hierarchy of metamodels, whose jar files are stored in a folder).

Isight comes with a default set of categories taken from the “Base Quantities” and “Derived Quantities” of the SI Base Units and SI Derived Units. For a list of categories, see Included Units.
