Publishing a Metamodel or JAR File

When you develop your own metamodels (i.e., components, units, data types, plug-ins, etc.) and JAR files, you can publish them to the Isight library, which makes them available to other users who have access to that library.

  1. From the View menu, select Library or click the Library button on the Design Gateway toolbar.

    The Isight Library appears.

  2. Click the button.

    The Open dialog box appears.

  3. Locate the object that you want to publish to the Isight library, and click Open.

When publishing a metamodel, the object type shown in the Publish dialog box will be the metamodel subtype (e.g., component, plug-in, unit, etc.). When publishing a JAR file, the object type shown will be JAR.

    The Publish dialog box appears.

  4. In the Name text box, enter the name of the object as you want it to appear in the the Isight library.

  5. For JAR files, enter the version in the Version text box in the format x.y.z, where x, y, and z are integers.

You cannot specify or change the version for metamodels.

  6. Determine where you want to save the object.

    • To specify an existing location in the Isight library:

      1. Click Publish As to specify where you want the object published.

The Publish Model As dialog box appears.

      2. Use the directory structure on the left side of the dialog box to navigate to the desired location, and click OK.

The Publish dialog box appears with the Path text box filled in with the path chosen on the Publish As dialog box.

    • To create a new location in the Isight library, type the new location for the published object directly in the Path text box or leave the text box blank to publish the object as a top-level object.

For example, if you want to create a new top-level directory called “jars”, and name your object “example_jar”, you would type jars in this text box.

  7. If desired, edit the description of the object in the Description text box.

  8. If desired, specify attributes to help identify the object by typing them directly into the corresponding columns in the Attributes area.

The attributes are visible to all users who can access your Isight library by clicking View Details (see Accessing the Isight Library).

  9. If you are connected to a SIMULIA Execution Engine, click Edit Permissions.

The Permissions dialog box for newly created objects appears. For more information on setting user permissions, see Setting Permissions on Objects in the Isight Library.

  10. Click Publish.

The object is stored in the Isight library, based on your current connection (local or SIMULIA Execution Engine environment).
