Changing Components in a Simulation Process Flow

After you add a component to a simulation process flow, you can easily change it to another component of the same type (process or application).

Once you change a component, the old component is available from the Change To menu for later use. If the list of previously used components becomes unmanageable, you can remove components from the list.

Note: You cannot change components that are referenced (either from the current model or separate referenced models). For more information on referencing options, see Using Submodels and Referenced Models.

  1. Identify the component to change and the new component using either of the following methods:

    • Using the menus, do the following:

      1. From the gateway, right-click the component that you want to change.
      2. Select Change To, and click New.

The Select New Component dialog box appears, listing the new component options. If you are changing a process component, only process components are listed. Similarly, if you are changing an application component, only application components are listed.

      3. Select the component that will replace the existing component.

    • Using the mouse, do the following:

      1. Drag-and-drop the new component from the component palette directly onto the existing component that you want to replace.

The Specify Action dialog box appears.

      2. Toggle on the option to change the current component to the new component.

  2. In the Select New Component dialog box or the Specify Action dialog box, set the following options, as desired:

    • Copy existing parameters to new component. Select this option if you want to copy all parameters from the old component to the new component that you are about to create. Isight also copies all dataflow mappings from/to the parameters.

    • Delete existing component. Select this option if you want the existing component permanently removed and replaced with the new component. If you do not select this option, the existing component is retained in the Change To menu when you right-click on this component, and you can change back to it at any time.

  3. Click OK to save your changes and to return to the Sim-flow tab.
